**Update** Charlie was adopted shortly after this blog was posted! Thanks Outdoors Beginner readers!
Meet Charlie, a three year old neutered Plott Hound mix. As you can see, he's a pretty happy-go-lucky guy. It should also be pretty obvious that he enjoys playing fetch. He is still figuring out the rules of engagement, and thinks throwing the ball around to himself is pretty hilarious. He will politely leave the ball on the ground if you insist on it, and isn't obsessive about playing fetch. He is up for anything, but all he really wants to do is simply spend time with you.
Once he gets over the initial excitement of being outdoors, he is great on the leash. He's very friendly with dogs and humans, and will probably be good with kids as well.
He knows sit and shake, but will still need basic obedience training. He's got the energy to make a great companion on any adventure, plus the laid-back personality to crash on the couch with you just as often. Plus, how can you say no to those freckles?
Take Charlie home with you by visiting him at the Denver Animal Shelter on West Bayaud Avenue at Alameda and I-25. Be ready with Charlie's ID number, which is A225854.
Note: If you saw two dogs on my Twitter feed yesterday - Gunner (the other dog I tweeted a picture of) already got adopted! Help Charlie find a home too by sharing this post.
Adoptable Adventure Dogs is a monthly series on Outdoors Beginner featuring shelter dogs that would make excellent partners in adventure. I am a volunteer at the Denver Animal Shelter, and therefore most of the featured dogs are currently residing there. If you know of a deserving pup that needs a home from your local shelter, please feel free to reach out to me at outdoorsbeginner@gmail.com! Remember - Adopt, Don't Shop. The best breed is rescued!
